What is a Class Action?

Your legal problem may be one in common with other Australians. If that is the case then it is possible that your claim could be conducted as a class action.

Class actions are representative proceedings brought by one person on behalf of a group of people. Class Actions are there to assist in resolving common issues and factual disputes amongst that group. The main benefit of class actions is that they enable a dispute involving potentially large numbers of people to be resolved by way of a single case.

Slater & Gordon is one of Australia’s leading class action law firms having conducted major complex litigation for two decades from personal injury actions to shareholder actions using group and class action procedures. More importantly we have been successful in resolving numerous class actions on behalf of our clients.

As class action laws differ in each state and may involve federal law it is important that a class action be conducted by a law firm with the resources and experience to handle complex multi-party actions. Only Slater & Gordon has experienced class action lawyers in every mainland state in Australia.

Whether it be the current VIOXX class action in the Federal Court of Australia or the numerous class actions being run across Australia in State Supreme Courts in relation to the Westpoint collapse, Slater & Gordon has the know how and experience to provide accurate and timely advice whilst using its resources to ensure our thousands of class action clients claims are progressing towards resolution.
